eWord allows users to copy MS Word files to and from the BlackBerry® device through a serial port or USB interface when the device is in the cradle. The synchronization is done through a special eFile Synchronization Add-In, which is installed within BlackBerry® Desktop Manager during eOffice installation. The files are prepared for synchronization using eFile Desktop, and installed in the DynoPlex Program Group during the installation process. The files are stored on the device in eWord’s internal format and the conversion between this format and DOC files is done through the Document Converter supplied with eWord installation distribution.

Configuring eFile Synchronization Add-In

In order to enable the synchronization you need to configure the eFile Synchronization Add-In. Start BlackBerry® Desktop Manager and launch Intellisync.

In the Intellisync configuration dialog select the “Configure Add-Ins” button. Enable the checkmark against “eFile synchronization add-in” and choose OK.

To manually launch synchronization, check the box “Execute Add-in actions” and select the “Synchronize Now” button. To configure automatic synchronization every time the handheld is inserted into the cradle, choose “Auto Start” and checkmark “Execute Add-in actions” in the “Auto start” dialog. Click OK to close the dialog.

Copying files to and from device using eFile Desktop

Files are converted and placed to the special synchronization folder on your PC by eFile Desktop. To start the eFile Desktop, open Windows’ Start Menu->Programs->DynoPlex->eFile->eFile Desktop.

eFile desktop has two panes. On the left there is the directory tree of your PC, and on the right a list of files on the device or wireless server. Select “Device Files” from the list at the right pane. Copy files to the device by dragging files from the left pane and dropping them to the right pane. Copy files from the device by dragging files from the right pane and dropping them to the left pane.

Files will be actually synchronized to your handheld next time you will use BlackBerry Desktop Manager. If you configured automated synchronization, simply insert the device into its cradle. The synchronization will start automatically together with other specified auto-start actions.

If you prefer to do the synchronization manually, launch BlackBerry Desktop Manager and then double click the Intellisync icon. Make sure that Execute Add-in Actions checkbox is selected in the Synchronize now sections. Click “Synchronize now”.
