As described in the previous paragraph, when a misspelled word is found in the text of the e-mail, the user can edit it using the suggestions pop-up. Several options for editing exist and are described in this section.
First, the user can select one of the suggestions presented by Spell Check application. This is done by rolling the wheel down to the required word, clicking the wheel and then moving the cursor to the Change button at the bottom of the pop-up, as indicated on Fig. 8. When the user clicks on the Change button, the word in the text is then replaced with the one selected by the user.
It is also possible to replace all occurrences of this word in the text by selecting the correct word and clicking the “Change All” button at the bottom of the pop-up, as shown of Fig. 9. |
The second option is to ignore the suggestion of the Spell Check application and leave the word as is. This option is recommended when there is a need to include a foreign word in the e-mail on a one-time basis. The user needs to click the wheel to move to the bottom of the pop-up, move the cursor to the “Ignore” button, as shown on Fig. 10, and then click the wheel. The application will leave the misspelled word as it was and will move to the next misspelled word. |
As in the previous option, selecting “Ignore All” will skip all occurrences of this misspelled word in the text of this e-mail (see Fig. 11).
It is important to note that after spell check of this e-mail text is complete, the ignored word is no longer automatically ignored, in other words, if another e-mail contains the same word, it is again highlighted as misspelled.
To permanently stop the Spell Check application from highlighting this word as misspelled, the word must be added to the User Word List by clicking the wheel and moving the cursor to the “Add” button at the bottom of the pop-up, as shown on Fig. 12. When the user clicks the “Add” button, the word is added to the User Dictionary and will no longer be considered misspelled. |
Finally, the user can edit the misspelled word right in the suggestions pop-up. All usual BlackBerry® controls work in the field containing the misspelled word at the top of the pop-up. The user can type additional symbols, delete exiting letters and move the cursor in the field by holding down the ALT button and rolling the wheel at the same time.
